Prom was last weekend and this was my beautiful dress! I saw so many girls throughout the night holding up their strapless dresses while trying to dance, it was not flattering and made some funny pictures from the photographers. It is very important when picking out a dress for any occasion that you think about what you will be doing in the dress. If you will just be standing around all night at a formal party, a strapless dress would be fine, but if you are going to be dancing and jumping around, a strapless dress will not cut it. I know first hand how hard it is to find pretty dresses with straps since most dresses now are strapless, but there are still plenty that with time, you can find! I got my dress from Nordstrom. Nordstrom had wonderful dresses and a wide price range. I saw a dresses anywhere from $150-$900. It was a miracle I found my dress! I was invited to this prom last minute and so I spent all of Tuesday before the prom on Saturday looking for the right dress that would also pass dress code. I had no luck because it is late in the prom season so all of the good dresses were gone, and being just under 5'3 all of the dresses would need altering, something I did not have time for. Note to all girls going to prom: Start looking for your dress in February because that is when the stores start getting the dress in, and if you are shorter than 5'8 plan on the dress needing to be altered since the dresses are made for tall girls! The next day I had my BP Fashion Board meeting at Nordstrom. I walked into the store at Perimeter Mall where the dresses are and figured it would not hurt to look. I tried on three dresses that were all pretty, but this pink one I chose was perfect! The dress needed no altering. It was a little long, but with heels it looked perfect.

Teen Vogue Fashion U

October 21st-23rd was Teen Vogue's Fashion University up in NYC. What do you do at Fashion U? Well students get to attend private parties and seminars by some of the biggest names in fashion! Once you get the acceptance letter it is very important that you go online and quickly register for the classes you want to take otherwise, the classes will fill up and you will not get a spot. I wish I could have listened to all of the speakers there, but I did get to attend the classes taught by Linda Fargo (Senior Vice President of the fashion office and Store Presentation at BERGDORF!) Katia Kuethe (Teen Vogue Fashion Director...She does all of the photoshoots, covers, and colors/fonts for the magazine), Brooke Jaffe (Bloomingdales Accessories Director), and Sheena Smith (Teen Vogue Accessories Editor.) There were even more well known people in the fashion industry there to teach the students. Alexander Wang, Whitney Port, Betsey Johnson, Eddie Borgo, Rebecca Minkoff, Amy Levin (Founder of College Fashionista, check it out!) Emily Weiss (Into the Gloss, check it out!) Stephanie Mark and Arabelle Sicardi (co-founders of The Coveteur, check it out!) Ally Hilfiger+Nary Manivong spoke about their new collection together (NAHM) Olivia Miles (costume designer and stylist for ABC Family's new series Jane By Design, be sure to watch!) Keegan Singh, Jack McCollough and Lararo Hernandez (of Proenza Schouler) Lisa Salzer, Tamara Mellon, Mary Kate Steinmiller, and Jason Wu just to name a few! Then all of the students got to attend some panel discussions together in the Hudson Theater. Every student got to listen to: Michael Kors, of-course all of the Teen Vogue major editors (or the Directors depending on that sections’ top person) and Amy Astley spoke to us, Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power (whowhatwear.com founders) Aliza Licht (Senior VP of global communications for Donna Karan International) and Susan Koger. (founder of Modcloth) I am excited to see who all will be at Teen Vogue Fashion University next year!
